Disney XD is adding a new animated series to its lineup.
Production has started on Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, an animated comedy adventure series set to debut in the fall of 2014.
The series follows Penn Zero, a boy from the suburbs who becomes a part-time hero and leader of a team of good guys who travel to other worlds to save the day.
Penn’s and his sidekick Sashi and a wise man named Boone team up every day after school to fight the part-time villain Rippen and save another world. Together, the team of good guys visits outer space, the Old West, lands of enchantment, and even the suburbs.
The series was created by Jared Bush (Zootopia) and Sam Levin (Wreck-It Ralph).
“Jared and Sam have created something wonderful — a series with just the right balance of comedy, adventure and heart,” said Eric Coleman, Senior Vice President, Original Series, Disney Television Animation. “With its multiple characters, changing locations, and its lush art direction, this series is one of our most ambitious to date.”
Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero features the voice talents of Thomas Middleditch (The Campaign) as Penn, and Adam DeVine (Pitch Perfect) as Boon. Other actors lending their voices include Tania Gunadi (Aaron Stone) as Sashi, Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2) as Rippen, and Larry Wilmore (The Daily Show) as Principal Larry, who is also Rippen’s part-time minion.
