Disney has decided to scrap their live-action, kung-fu samurai take on the classic Snow White, which was to be named The Order of the Seven.
Despite the fact Disney has been working on this project for 10 years, it’s no surprise that they decided to scrap the film given Universal’s live-action remake Snow White and the Huntsman and Mirror, Mirror which hits theaters June 1.
The film has also gone through several changes, originally written by Michael Chabon but then shifting when screenwriter Michael Arndt took the helm. The Order of the Seven finally seemed to realize its potential when actress Saoirse Ronan was slated to star and production was set to begin in the fall.
However, all development on the film has stopped and it’s unclear whether they’ll pick it up again. For now, it’s safe to say that Disney won’t be working on a live-action remake of Snow White anytime soon.
