According to Disney, there will be 15 to 16 new looks for the different parts of the refurbished Fantasyland, whose first elements will be opening later this month.
Says Pam Flint, who works with Walt Disney World costuming:
We put a little storyline together to try and help us figure out where we wanted to go with the costumes. We wanted all the locations to have very specific costumes to make it more of a community look.
While we don’t have information about all of the new costumes that visitors will see when they visit Fantasyland, Disney says that the cast members who work in the Beauty and the Beast section of Fantasyland will pay homage to the classic Disney film. Chris Beatty, creative director for the Magic Kingdom expansion, says “The cast that works at Gaston’s tavern — I mean they look just like Gaston… it will really feel like they just stepped out of that story.”
The first section of Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland expansion, Storybook Circus, will open in late March. In the meantime, enjoy this video about how the new looks have been created!
