All different sectors of the Walt Disney Company have a lot in store for next weekend’s D23 Expo, and Disney Publishing Worldwide is no exception. Disney-loving readers at the upcoming Expo will be able to enjoy special storytelling events, the chance to see best-selling Disney authors, exclusive giveaways and more throughout the three-day convention.
As previously announced, the Disney Living Pavilion will contain Disney Publishing’s “The Wonderful Words of Disney” area. This area will feature comfortable areas for guests to relax and peruse some Disney books, as well as kiosks featuring tablets and smartphones loaded with Disney Publishing products. Guests can enjoy different selections from Disney’s vast library of books, including both stories featuring classic Disney characters and series, such as Kingdom Keepers and Percy Jackson & the Olympians. The area will also feature new releases such as the It’s a Small World publishing program, Phineas and Ferb magazines, and the Captain America special interest publication. Guests can also interact with learning products, such as the new Cars 2 read and race app.
There will also be a number of events throughout the weekend for fans of Disney books. In addition to the previously announced Dave Barry/Ridley Pearson storytelling event on Friday, August 19, storytellers will entertain guests with readings from classic Disney stories on Saturday and Sunday. These storytelling sessions will take place at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM in the Disney Publishing booth. The stories will include the Winnie the Pooh and Cars 2 Read-Along digital books, The Ballad of Nessie by Kieran Lachlan, and the Little Golden Book Tangled.

- Why We Create
In a fascinating discussion, filmmaker, Academy Award-nominated producer, and author Don Hahn reveals insights into the creative process using classic Disney images, world-renowned art, advertisements, and music to share his inspirations and knowledge.
- Behind the Page with Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson
These highly entertaining best-selling authors will discuss the blockbuster series Peter & The Starcatchers, with focus on the new book, The Bridge to Never Land.
- Ridley Pearson Presents Kingdom Keepers
In this presentation, Ridley will discuss the series and reveal his behind-the-scenes experiences at the Disney Parks while researching the New York Times best-selling books.
- It’s a Small World Story Time and Pen Pal Program
Listen to a live reading from the It’s a Small World picture book and the Hello World! book, followed by a very special opportunity to become pen pals with a Disney English student based in China.
Finally, attendees will be able to participate in giveaways throughout the weekend. The exclusive giveaways will include a “quality print” in honor of Disney artist Mary Blair, the chance to win two Disney park passes through the Disney English referral program, and a card that enables you to download a “Build-a-Roller-Coaster” app.
