In a move that was announced earlier this week, Disney said that they would partner with credit card giant MasterCard in an exclusive deal that would make the credit card the card of choice in Disneyland Paris and in Disney stores across Europe. To highlight the relationship, permanent signage will be placed at around Disneyland Paris and throughout European Disney Stores – although patrons and guest will still be permitted to use other credit cards.
The partnership, which will span six years, is the first of its kind for a family entertainment company in Europe. Cardholders can look forward to special deals, like discounts in Disney stores, at the theme park – even on Disney movies.
Walt Disney Company EMEA President Diego Lerner sees this as a move that will benefit both MasterCard and its cardholders. “With this alliance, MasterCard will benefit from Disney’s one of a kind expertise in family entertainment enabling them to reach this important audience in a fun, new way.”
The MasterCard alliance will only pertain to pan-European Disney stores and Disneyland Paris. In the United States, Disney continues its partnership with Visa.
