This weekend marks the return of the annual World Maker Faire New York at the New York Hall of Science.
The Maker Faire celebrates creativity and is a venue for makers to showcase their work and interact with others.
Faire attendees have a chance to gain practical experience and kick start their skills. The Maker Faire includes workshops, maker exhibits, and will feature experts from science and technology.
As they have done in the past, Disney is once again sponsoring World Maker Faire New York, bringing creativity to kids and families through the Faire’s programs.
Maker Faire was launched in the Bay Area in 2006 and most attendees come with their children, as the event is billed as a family event. This year more than 60 community-driven Mini Maker Faires are planned.
Those attending Maker Faire include crafters, educators, kids, families, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, artists, and tech enthusiasts. More than 70,000 attendees are expected at the Maker Faire this year in addition to more than 650 makers.
Some of the event highlights for this year include a Coke Zero and Mentos performance, a Power Racing Series, a Circus Warehouse, and a Life Size Mouse Trap.
