The former president of Warner Brothers, Alan Horn, has been named the new chairman of Walt Disney Studios. He will take over responsibilities beginning June 11 and replace former chairman Rich Ross, who resigned from the company in April.
Horn’s new responsibilities will extend to Pixar and Marvel as well as Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks Studios, which uses Disney for marketing and distribution purposes. Additionally, Horn will oversee Disney’s Hollywood Records and their Broadway division.
Says Horn, who retired from Warner Brothers last year:
I found myself with a lot of free time, and there aren’t many chairs like this in the movie business so I had to say yes.
Some of Horn’s notable achievements include managing the Harry Potter franchise, as well as overseeing the work on 300, The Departed, The Perfect Storm, Happy Feet, Ocean’s 11 and The Dark Knight.
