There’s a new sheriff in town and she’s the star of the first Western for preschoolers.
Disney Junior’s new series Sheriff Callie’s Wild West is scheduled to debut on Monday, January 20 at 5 p.m. ET. Mandy Moore (Tangled) stars as the voice of Sheriff Callie.
The animated series uses Old West folklore to teach social skills and lessons to young kids ages 2-7. Last month the series was the first Disney/ABC Television series to premiere multiple episodes online and on mobile devices before its on-air debut. It is currently the number one most-watched series on WATCH Disney Junior.
The show follows the story of Callie, a calico cat sheriff who keeps the peace in her town of Nice and Friendly Corners using her cowgirl know-how and her magic lasso. The series also stars the voices of Lucas Grabeel (High School Musical) as deputy Peck, and Jessica DiCicco (Gravity Falls) as their sidekick Toby.
Music plays a key role in the series and pays homage to classic Western films and cowboy musicals through songs including “We’re Gonna Clean up This Town” and “The Cowgirl Twirl.”
Sheriff Callie’s Wild West will also debut on Disney Channel later in the spring of 2014.
