CORRECTION: Since this story was published, DisZine has been contacted by ABC Daytime and SOAPnet, who offered clarification on the transition of channels carrying SOAPnet to Disney Junior. According to Publicity Director Mitch Messinger, SOAPnet and Disney Junior will run concurrently until SOAPnet is no longer available. “SOAPnet will remain available for an undetermined period of time as additional carriage deals for Disney Junior are finalized with distributors,” a spokesperson has said. Many thanks to Mr. Messinger for reaching out to DisZine with this helpful information.
Last week, we told you that Disney’s latest cable channel, Disney Junior, finally has a premiere date of March 23. Today, we have confirmed that, as previously reported, Disney Junior will take the place of ABC’s SOAPnet. The Disney Junior block, which replaced Playhouse Disney programming on the Disney Channel last year, will remain on Disney’s flagship station.
Subscribers will see the switch on Time Warner, Bright House Networks, Comcast, Verizon, and other major satellite and cable providers. Please visit your cable or satellite’s website to determine if you’ll have access to the new channel.
