The popular children’s book series Fancy Nancy has been optioned by Disney Junior for development of an original animated television series and movie.
In addition to the movie and television series licensed products will be developed by Disney Consumer Products and HarperCollins and Disney Publishing have plans to collaborate on book editions based on the Disney Junior series.
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Disney Junior to bring Fancy Nancy to the small screen and to the next generation of fans,” said Nancy Kanter, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide. “As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of this bestselling series, it’s exciting to see our beloved character making her TV debut.”
Fancy Nancy includes more than 60 titles and has sold more than 28 million books around the world. Fancy Nancy was also named 2008’s Book Character of the year by Global License.
Fans can expect to see Fancy Nancy on Disney Junior sometime in 2017.
