Earlier this week, fifteen special students were visited by everyone’s favorite Mouse – right in the middle of their school day; Mickey Mouse and the Walt Disney World prize patrol were up to something good.
The reason for the visits? Disney has been hard at work, selecting 400 students as 2011 Disney Dreamers and Doers from a large field of applications submitted for students across all of Central Florida. Out of the 400 students selected to receive this distinction, 15 students were crowned Shining Stars – the absolute top students among the field of champions.
To be considered for these honors, students overcame personal challenges, or helped out family members in some tangible way. All of the Dreamers and Doers received recognition for their compassionate spirit and their inspirational story. The honors came with rewards as well: Dreamers and Doers received four theme park tickets, a bronze medal, and a certificate. Shining stars received Walt Disney World annual passes for themselves and their immediate families, as well as a gold Mickey statue, a gold medallion marking their achievement, and a day of fun and learning at the resort, which will take place June 18.
