Disney, entertainer Steve Harvey, and Essence Magazine are joining together this weekend with one message for a group of special students: If you can dream it, you can do it!
For the fourth consecutive year, Harvey is hosting the Disney Dreamer’s Academy at Walt Disney World. The program selects 100 students from a field of 1000s of applicants in grades nine through twelve, for an opportunity to participate in the weekend-long event. Participants go behind the scenes at Disney and learn about different careers, have the chance to experience mentoring tailored to their interests, and to participate in workshops and seminars. Joining the students will be a list of celebrities and notables, which in addition to Harvey, include Raven Symone, Ruben Studdard of American Idol fame; Terrence J from BET’s 106 & Park, Mikki Taylor from Essence Magazine, Dr. Steve Perry (noted educator and motivational speaker,) and Disney Animation’s own Marlon West.
