The Disney Television Animation Studios is developing a new animated special inspired by Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion.
The special is being developed for both Disney Channel and Disney XD and it will be animated by Gris Grimly, a legendary horror genre artist (Gris Grimly’s Wicked Nursery Rhymes).
Scott Peterson (Phineas and Ferb) is attached to the projects as a writer, executive producer, and story editor.
Eric Coleman, Senior Vice President, Original Programming Disney Television Animation said of the announcement, “We have steadily built our roster with both animation veterans and fresh voices, and have fostered an environment where artists support and inspire one another. This group will help us continue to deliver the great storytelling and beloved characters that the Disney animation legacy is known for.”
The studio also announced that Phineas and Ferb co-creator Dan Povenmire has signed on to develop new projects.
There are also three new Disney XD pilots in the works: Billy Dilley’s Super Duper Subterranean Summer from Aaron Springer (Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts), Very Important House from Jhonen Vasquez and Jenny Goldberg, and Douglas Furs from Jesse LeDoux and Matt Olsen.
