Last Friday, Disney Cruise Line celebrated the arrival of its newest ship, the Disney Fantasy, to Port Canaveral with a donation of $250,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. A special check presentation from Disney Cruise Line to the organization was held onboard the ship, and children from the Boys & Girls Clubs were invited onto the Disney Fantasy to discover some of the magical details and children’s play areas that this brand-new ship has to offer.
The donation will assist in the development of a brand new Boys & Girls Clubs facility close to Disney Cruise Line’s port in Port Canaveral, FL, which will enable crew members to further support the organization through future Disney VoluntEAR efforts. This act helps to further continue the long relationship between Disney and the Boys & Girls Clubs; last year, Disney Cruise Line raised $750,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida through a special Benefit Preview Cruise on the Disney Dream.
In addition to the special check presentation, another ceremony was held onboard the Disney Fantasy on Friday as well. As part of a maritime tradition, Disney Cruise Line hosted a plaque exchange ceremony with community leaders and key members of the port to commemorate the inaugural call of the Disney Fantasy on Port Canaveral.
