Disney Channel to Celebrate Black History Month With ‘Doc McStuffins’ Interstitials

To celebrate Black History Month in February, The Disney Channel will air a group of interstitials dubbed We are Doc McStuffins. These segments are short spin-offs of the wildly popular Doc McStuffins television show, which features a young African American female who sets up a clinic for stuffed animals in her backyard after being inspired by her physician mother.

Following the same vein, We Are Doc McStuffins will feature real-life female African American doctors including Dr. Myiesha Taylor, Dr. Aletha Maybank and Dr. Naeemah Ghafur.

Nancy Kanter, senior vp original programming and general manager at Disney Junior Worldwide, says:

We are tremendously proud of Doc McStuffins and its impact not only with our core audience of kids and parents, but within the medical community as well, and we’re pleased to highlight some of those accomplished women physicians.

The first interstitial will air February 1 on Disney Channel and Disney Junior at 10:25 a.m. and 4:25 p.m. Additional interstitials will follow throughout the spring.
