Disney Channel recently ordered a pilot for a brand-new, music-driven show, Zombies and Cheerleaders. The pilot is set to begin production in December in consideration for a Disney Channel series debut in 2012.
Zombies and Cheerleaders will center on Zed Necrodopolis, your average high school student…who just so happens to be a zombie. To quell his appetite for his fellow classmates, Zed wears a high-tech wristwatch designed to keep his zombie habits in check. But despite these efforts, Zed and his zombie friends find themselves unpopular with his school’s most influential group: the cheerleaders. The series will focus on Zed taking on the challenge of trying to improve zombie student body relations at the school, while also attempting to win the attention of the school’s newest cheerleader, Addison.
Directing the show’s pilot will be Todd Strauss Schulson (“A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas”), with a script by Joseph Raso and David Light. Raso and Light will also serve as co-executive producers of the show, along with Eric Weinberg (“Scrubs,” “Death Valley”).
