The Surfers and The Bikers are headed back to the small screen.
Disney Channel has announced that production on Teen Beach Movie 2 will begin this July and the sequel to last summer’s hit Disney Channel Original Movie will premiere in 2015.
Teen Beach Movie 2 will again star Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally), Maia Mitchell (The Fosters), Grace Phipps (Baby Daddy), Garrett Clayton (The Fosters), and John DeLuca (Twisted) in their roles of Brady, McKenzie, Lela, Tanner, and Butchy.
“The audience response to the first Teen Beach Movie was overwhelming,” said Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer Disney Channels Worldwide. “We are thrilled to have the cast back for a new music-driven saga that continues this fantastical story.”
The sequel takes place months after McKenzie and Brady return from their “adventure” that transported them into Brady’s favorite 1960s beach party movie, Wet Side Story.
The sweethearts get a real world visit from Lela, Tanner, Butchy and the other surfers and bikers.
Teen Beach Movie 2 is being written by Robert Horn (Teen Beach Movie), Dan Berendsen (Hannah Montana: The Movie), and Matt and Billy Eddy (Zapped).
Teen Beach Movie ranks at cable television’s all-time #2 movie in total viewers.
