Disney Channel and Radio Disney are searching for the next youth pop star, and they will be launching the fifth season of N.B.T. (Next Big Thing) this month in an effort to find a winner.
All of the contestants are between 12 and 17 and comprise various musical genres including R&B, pop and modern rock. The contestants include modern rocker Jack Skuller, pop singer Elle Winter, R&B artists Chloe and Halle Bailey, acoustic singer Katharine Hughes and R&B singer/dancer Damian Otchere. All of the contestant’s first singles are available now on iTunes.
Throughout the season, the artists will have a chance to perform their own songs as well as cover popular tunes while working with mentors Cher Lloyd and Austin & Ally stars Ross Lynch and Laura Marano. The winner of N.B.T. will receive a performance on the Disney Channel sitcom Austin & Ally as well as a single release through Disney Music Group and a performance slot in the N.B.T. finale concert.
N.B.T. premieres on The Disney Channel October 12, with voting beginning on October 26, 2012.
