Disney Junior’s newest primetime movie, The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, airs November 22, and cast members from Disney’s Animal, Science and Environment team played a key role in the film’s development.
The cast members spent time with the team from Disney Junior to assist and advise animators on the characteristics, behaviors, and habitats of the animals that are part of the movie. The team, led by Dr. Jill Mellen, reviewed scripts and made suggestions about the animals portrayed in the film.
The film tells the story of Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, as he assumes his role as leader of the Lion Guard – a team of animals who protect the Pride Lands.
The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar is a precursor to The Lion Guard television series which will debut on Disney Channel and Disney Junior in 2016.
