Do you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch? It’s easier than ever to download applications for your Web-enabled Apple products, and more and more choices are available every day. The Disney-related choices available are mind-boggling – there is everything from Disney-themed puzzle sliders to interactive games based on Tinkerbell, Toy Story, Alice in Wonderland and more. It’s a whole new world of portable Disney fun. Read on for highlights of apps available from Apple in the iTunes app store.
Official Disney Apps
Your first stop should be the free official Disney app in the iTunes App Store. This comprehensive app from Disney includes videos and music; personalized messages from Disney characters such as Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Tigger and Woody; Disney news and games; shopping in the Disney store; and a link to other Disney apps available for download. You can even pick the theme of your app! Princess & the Frog, Toy Story, Cars and Fairies are just some of the choices for the app’s theme.
Another fun and free app is Radio Disney, which streams music and tells you the last 10 songs played.
There’s also the free Disney Channel Cover Styler app, which turns you into the star of your own magazine with your own photo. Strike a pose and glam it up!
And don’t forget to check out the brand new Tron app, just released by Disney!
But There’s More…
There’s another world altogether of apps for traveling to Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Some are free, but others can run up to $5.99 or more. Some apps provide attraction wait times, while others offer maps, or store your travel information and dining reservations. You can even get weather for the Orlando and Anaheim Disney parks. No official Disney World or Disneyland apps are available yet for the iTunes store, but Disney Parks has released an official Verizon app.
And with word this month that Disney has acquired Tapulous, the Palo Alto, California-based maker of popular Apple mobile games, there should be plenty more Disney games and apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users to enjoy in the future.
