With former Disney stars flying the coop, Disney needs a new leading lady to take the reins – could Debby Ryan be the next big Disney star?
Based on her success as country girl Bailey Pickett on “The Suite Life on Deck,” it certainly seems that way! In her role on the show (a spinoff of “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”), Ryan has catapulted popular series to the top of the Disney Channel, beating out both Miley Cyrus’ “Hannah Montana” and Selena Gomez’s “Wizards of Waverly Place.”
Additionally, the Disney Channel film “16 Wishes” was well received, and Ryan will be going on to star in her own show entitled “Jessie.” In the new series, Ryan plays the title character, a small-town girl who moves from the country to the big city of New York to be an au pair.
The show uncannily reflects Ryan’s real-life story, as she also moved from her native Texas to California to pursue her acting dreams. Upcoming events also will feature Ryan heavily as the face of the Disney Channel brand, which leads many to believe she very well may be Disney’s next big thing.
