Walt Disney World played host to one of college football’s biggest nights this past Saturday.
Some of the most notable names in collegiate sports were on hand at the Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney’s Boardwalk this weekend for the Home Depot College Football Awards, which cover virtually every major honor awarded in the arena of college football. The ceremony was televised live on ESPN.
Of particular interest was Cam Newton, who attended as the favorite to win this year’s Heisman Trophy. (He did win, by the way.)
But the lone standing ovation of the evening went to another SEC player, D.J. Williams. The Arkansas Razorback’s tight end was awarded Disney’s Spirit award in recognition for overcoming a terrible family situation to succeed as one of college football’s best and brightest players.
