After many months of speculation – and news that Luke, Han, and Leia were recently spotted in London – the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII has been announced.
Drumroll, please.
The cast for Star Wars: Episode VII includes: John Boyega (24: Live Another Day), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Gollum in The Lord of the Rings films), Domhhall Gleeson (About Time), and Max von Sydow (The Exorcist).
Original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels (C3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Kenny Baker (R2-D2) will also star in the film.
Character names and descriptions were not included in the release from Disney and Lucasfilm. Adam Driver will reportedly play a Darth Vader-like villain while Isaac’s character will have a “Han Solo look” and Boyega will be a Jedi.
It has been reported that the film – which will be set 30 years after Return of the Jedi – will include the children of Han Solo and Princess Leia, so Daisy Ridley could be cast as one their daughter.
J.J. Abrams is directing Episode VII, in addition to producing the film with Bryan Burk.
Star Wars: Episode VII arrives in theaters on December 18, 2015.
