Fire crews have been working on and off this week to control a small fire on Walt Disney World property.
According to Bo Jones, assistant fire chief for Reedy Creek Emergency Services, the fire began last Sunday afternoon in a wooded area situated between Magic Kingdom and Fort Wilderness Resort. By Tuesday the blaze, which flared to approximately 3.5 to 5 acres of property, had been largely contained. The cause of the fire is believed to be a lightening strike.
Officials have stated that the resort’s buildings have not been in immediate danger from the fire, and no injuries have been reported, though smoke from the blaze was considerable.
