Hiro, Baymax, and friends are headed to the small screen! A brand-new animated series based on the hit film Big Hero 6 is coming to Disney XD next year.
The series picks up immediately after the event in the film – Hiro is a prodigy at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, and is facing academic and social challenges of being the “little man on campus.”
Off campus, the Big Hero 6 team must protect their city from scientifically enhanced villains.
Hiro will be joined by Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Fred, Go Go, and of course Baymax.
The series will be produced by Marck McCorkle and Bob Schooley, the creators and executive producers of Kim Possible.
Big Hero 6 was released in October 2014 and was the biggest animated film of that year with more than $657 million in ticket sales worldwide. The film won the Best Animated Picture Oscar in addition to being nominated for a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award, and a BAFTA.
The Big Hero 6 animated series will debut on Disney XD in 2017.
