Babycakes NYC has brought all of its yummy goodness to Downtown Disney in Florida!
The original bakery, located on New York’s Lower East Side, is famed for its vegan confections, and with Disney’s new commitment to offering healthier dining options, Babycakes was a natural choice to complement Pollo Campero and Fresh A-Peel, which opened concurrently with the bakery at the resort’s shopping center earlier this month.
Babycakes NYC features a host of sweet treats that are egg-free, gluten-free, casein-free, and free of refined sugar. These are the real deal for anyone who chooses a vegan or gluten-free lifestyle. Made with rice flour or a legume flour featuring a mix of garbanzo beans and fava beans, the texture of the treats may be a little more dense than the average cupcake, but the fresh, not-too-sweet flavor more than makes up for texture for anyone bothered by food sensitivities that would otherwise prohibit them from indulging in such desserts.
Babycakes also offers cookies and doughnuts, but they are most noted for their cupcakes. Usually featuring several different varieties a day, they are priced at $3.50 a piece. If frosting and less cake is your thing, you may want to try their cupcake tops – mostly frosting and about a third of the size of a regular cupcake, these will run you $2.
It will be interesting to see the reception that Babycakes receives on Disney property. Guests are always clamoring for options that cater to special dietary needs, and with vegan diets becoming more mainstream, this may just be the perfect time for the store to share its love with Orlando.
