One of my favorite childhood books is joining up with my favorite Animation pros — Babar has been picked up by the Disney Channel!
Well, more appropriately, Babar and the Adventures of Badou. This new animated series from Nelvana will be going live in the United States on Playhouse Disney, and will also be seen on YTV in Canada this November, on TF1 and Playhouse Disney in France, on Playhouse Disney in Japan, on the Disney Channel in Italy and Spain, and several more.
This isn’t the same Babar we’re used to, though:
“Babar has been revamped for the 21st century and the marvelous new look of the show and engaging storylines will make it a favorite with kids, parents and grandparents everywhere,” said Lynn Chadwick, VP of worldwide sales and distribution for Nelvana. “We are delighted to be able to introduce it to viewers in the U.S. first on Playhouse Disney.”
The new version of the series is targeted at ages 4-7 and features King Babar, his 8-year-old grandson Badou, and several new friends.
The series is a Canada-France co-production from Nelvana Studio and TeamTO, in association with The Clifford Ross Co.
