The Atlanta Braves have extended their contract at the ESPN Wide World of Sports until 2019. That will be the last year the team has spring training at Walt Disney World.
After April 2019 the Braves will move their spring training to a new facility in West Villages in the City of North Port, Sarasota County.
The Braves have held their spring training at the Wide World of Sports complex since 1998.
The new facility will include six and a half practice fields, 55,000 square feet of clubhouse and fitness center for the Braves, 6,500 fixed seats and 2,500 additional general admission seats, and can be used by the City and County when the Braves aren’t there.
There is no word yet if another Major League Baseball team will bring their spring training to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex after 2019.
