Legendary rock drummer Charlie Benante, of Anthrax fame, has a new gig with Mickey Mouse! In the past, Charlie has been involved with the art & graphic design of band album covers and t-shirts but this time he teamed up with Disney Product Developers Holli McHugh and Donald Ferro to create a unique Vinylmation figure. Charlie’s initial 9 inch figure features Mickey wrapped from head-to-toe in gauze-like material creating a mummy effect.
Apparently the famous drummer has always been inspired by the art of Walt Disney, and now he’s creating his own!
“Charlie knew at a young age there was art and music in his blood. A Disney fan from the start, it was Walt Disney’s Fantasia that led him to get hooked on creating art in all forms, as well as his love for Mickey Mouse and the flawless and seamless animation that only Disney could provide.” (Disney Parks Blog)
Fans have the opportunity to meet Charlie & see his Vinylmation figures in person on October 23, 2010 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Disneyland’s “D Street” store. Check out all the details on www.DisneyDStreet.com.
