ABC Family celebrated the release of the companion book for their hit show Switched at Birth on Thursday. The show is currently in its first season, and follows two families whose daughters were sent home with different families from the hospital. The ultimate twist – one daughter (played by Katie LeClerc,) is deaf.
This revolutionary show also features many scenes shot entirely in American Sign Language, and helps bring awareness of the death culture with many deaf or hard-of-hearing actors.
The companion book, Switched at Birth: The True Story of a Mother’s Journey, was written by Lea Thompson’s character Kathryn Kennish and helps expand the series by giving an inside view of the mother’s experiences as she learns her daughter was actually switched at birth. The companion book will also act as a plot point when the show continues.
You may purchase Switched at Birth: The True Story of a Mother’s Journey via Amazon.com. Tune in to ABC Family’s Switched at Birth on Monday’s at 8 p.m.
