We are so excited about Saving Mr. Banks – the movie that tells the story of how Walt Disney worked to bring Mary Poppins to the big screen.
So, were practically giddy when we saw this photo that Disney released of Tom Hanks as Walt Disney along with Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers, the author of Mary Poppins. In the photo, Walt is showing Travers around Disneyland, and she looks less-than-pleased about it.
The movie tells the true story of how Walt Disney struggled to make Mary Poppins, and his testy relationship with Travers who didn’t want an adaptation of her book made into a movie.
You can view the first official trailer for the movie here. Make sure you have some Kleenex handy because it’s really just that magical and it might bring a tear or two to your eyes.
The film is directed by John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side), and also stars Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, and Jason Schwartzman.
Saving Mr. Banks opens in limited release on December 13 and opens nationwide on December 20.
