On July 12th-17th at the “ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex” in Walt Disney World 200 youth soccer teams hailing from 18 different countries world-wide will compete in the “Disney Cup International Youth Soccer Tournament.” On the heels of an internationally popular World Cup, this years Disney Youth Tournament will be the largest ever in diversity and number of participating teams.
Over half of the participating teams come from the continental U.S.; Puerto Rico leads the international team count with 18 participating clubs. Canada has 16 teams registered, followed by Brazil with 11. Participating clubs will feature some of the best international youth soccer players aged 9-17; both boys and girls. Each team will play at least four games before advancing to a single-elimination tournament format. Championship games in various age divisions from under-9 through under-18 take place July 17.
“This year’s field is one of the most diverse and largest we’ve had in our tournament’s history,” said the event’s tournament director Mark Luster. “The Disney Cup continues to be a great opportunity for teams from around the world to compete against other top young athletes while also getting to relax and enjoy a vacation at Disney.” -WDWNews.com
