Go ahead. Buy that “Mary Poppins” ticket. In the middle of winter. Fearlessly.
Now through March 11, Disney Theatrical Productions is piloting a program called “Worry Free Winter 2011,” which enables customers who purchase tickets for “The Lion King” or “Mary Poppins” to exchange seats for other performances, as many times as needed, with no penalty.
David Schrader, executive Vice President of DTP, says that it’s all about what works for the customer. “People have busy lives and need more flexibility when the unexpected happens and plans change. We recognize the time is right to reduce restrictions and put more power in the hands of the customer.”
The company is testing the program during this historically slow period – which also sees lots of interruptions to patrons’ plans by unforeseen circumstances, like bad weather – to see how interested theatergoers might be in added flexibility.
