College Football Players Take Part in ‘Day for Kids’ Event

There were some happy kids running around Disney this holiday weekend – and they weren’t all pint-sized.

On Sunday, players from West Virginia University, North Carolina State, Michigan State, and Alabama participated in the Day for Kids at DisneyQuest.  During the event, players were paired with underprivileged children from the Orlando area for a day of game-playing in the five-story indoor amusement park, which features virtual rides and video games.

For the players, it was an opportunity to give back, but also a chance to have a little fun.  WVU quarterback Geno Smith realizes that the big return is the opportunity to give something back.  “Anytime you can inspire someone and be a blessing in their lives is just great.”

Children who participated in the day of fun received free games, bags, as well as other gifts provided by the four universities.

WVU and NC State are in Orlando for the Champs Sports Bowl, which will be played on December 28, while the Spartans and Crimson Tide will square off on New Year’s Day in the Capital One Bowl.
