Disney and ABC Studios received a total of nine Golden Globe nominations, which were announced on Tuesday morning.
Three Disney films were honored with a total of six nominations between them. “Alice in Wonderland,” Tim Burton’s live action fantasy which takes up where the animated version left off, garnered three nods: Best Motion Picture in a Comedy or Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Actor – Comedy or Musical for Johnny Depp, who was also nominated for his role in “The Tourist.” Going head to head in the Best Animated Feature Film category will be two Disney critical and commercially successful films – “Toy Story 3” and “Tangled,” the latter also picking up a nomination for “I See the Light” as best original song.
On the television side, ABC’s “Modern Family” was once again recognized in the Best TV Series – Comedy or Musical category. Two of its most hilarious performers – in an ensemble cast which is hilarious across the board – were also nominated. Sofia Vergara and Eric Stonestreet also received nods for Best Supporting Actress and Supporting Actor in a Series, respectively.
The 68th Annual Golden Globes, awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will be televised live on NBC, Sunday, January 16, at 8 p.m. EST.
