If you plan to spend Turkey Day in the ‘World, you have lots of options to have your turkey and eat it too! But perhaps one of the most unique and fun-filled events is the Thanksgiving celebration at Disney’s Fort Wilderness.
Does Thanksgiving dinner under the Florida sun sounds like a little slice of heaven to you? Then you’ll want to take in the feast at Disney’s Fort Wilderness. Dinner, an all-you-care-to-enjoy affair, takes place at the campground’s outdoor pavilion, and includes all the homestyle family favorites: cornbread, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, candied yams, green bean casserole, yellow squash and butternut squash, cornbread stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, etc., etc. But wait! There’s more! Because what would a trip to Fort Wilderness be without a little country hoedown? Guests will also enjoy live country music by the popular group “Margo Rochelle and Rodeo Drive,” and they can work that feast off on the dance floor with Mickey, Minnie, and their friends. And if that’s not enough good old-fashioned family fun for you, Trick-Ropin’ Trevor will also be delighting guests with some of his favorite rope twirling stunts. Four seatings are available – at noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m.
If your tastes run to fine dining, Disney’s got you covered there, too. Taking the traditional meal and adding their own signature twist to reflect the restaurant’s theme is what you’ll find all over the resort this Thanksgiving. At Artist Point, dinner takes a decidedly refined turn, where guests will enjoy a starter of smoky butternut squash and ginger soup with crispy pancetta, pumpkinseed oil and lemon cream, followed by smoked turkey breast basted with sage ,and accompanied by dried cherry dressing and buttermilk-chive mashed potatoes with fig gravy. To finish the meal off, dessert includes pumpkin cheesecake. Yum.
Not to be outdone, Kouzzina by Cat Cora turns from the Greek-inspired to the famous chef’s southern roots, with a traditional meal, including all the mainstays, as well as pumpkin pie tartlets.
