Looking for even more entertainment options during your upcoming November Walt Disney World vacation? If you’re a sports fan, you are in luck. Sports legends will be coming to Walt Disney World to play a little golf for a good cause next month.
Basketball great Julius Erving and recently retired baseball icon Ken Griffey Jr. will headline a celebrity list competing in the pro-am portion of next month’s Children’s Miracle Network Classic. This will be the first appearance in the tournament for both players.
Griffey leads a baseball contingent in the event, which will also include Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzinski (who attended Orlando’s own Dr. Phillips High school.) Pierzinski is appearing for the second consecutive year. San Francisco Giants’ outfielder Aaron Rowand and Tampa Bay Rays’ Carlos Pena and James Shields round out the list of pro baseball players who will play in this year’s event.
Rowand’s spot on the roster ensures a World Series participant in the tournament for the second consecutive year; last year, New York Yankees’ Johnny Damon participated in the Disney PGA Tour’s Disney finale.
The Children’s Miracle Network Classic will be played November 11-14 at Disney’s Magnolia and Palm Courses. The celebrity amateur lineup will play for the Thursday-Friday portion of the event.
Tickets may be purchased at ChildrensMiracleNetworkClassic.com, and range in price from $13 for a single day admission to $49.95 for the wine and dine package.
