The construction at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has been on-going for about a year and Disney just announced some exciting news about changes coming to the resort.
The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are now known as Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, which “accurately reflects the railroad themeing of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge” and works with the story line for the resort, according to Disney.
The former Hidden Springs Pool at the DVC villas is being totally reimagined and will be known as Boulder Ridge Cove. The themeing of the pool – including a sun deck and zero entry pool – makes is appear that is was built in an abandoned quarry.
As the story goes, these types of transformations were “common in the Pacific Northwest” after the Transcontinental Railroad. At the time locals “repurposed everything” including bridges, tunnels, and quarries.
The pool will also feature a Boulder Ridge Railway and Mining Co. water tower, which serves as a reminder of its past. A vintage mine cart will also be located in the area.
Another exciting addition is a new bar and grill and quick service restaurant – Geyser Point Bar & Grill. This will be located in the feature pool area of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and guests can enjoy a meal by the pool. The area will also feature outdoor seating.
The new Boulder Ridge Cove pool will be completed in the summer of 2017.
