Disney’s Animal Kingdom is getting ready to debut its newest live show – The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic.
The show debuts Saturday, May 28 at the Discovery River. And, it’s at night – a first for the Animal Kingdom. This weekend marks the start of nighttime hours at the theme park.
The show will be performed at the 5,000 seat Discovery River amphitheater that was built for Rivers of Light – the show that has been postponed until later this year.
The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic features barges with Indian banners, river-bound singers, dancers, and magicians. The 25-minute show tells the story of Mowgli and the animals that protect and threaten him.
The opening number of the show features an Indian chant in the Rajasthan style and the show’s music includes the film’s score. Water screens showcase the cover of The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. Characters featured in the show include Raksha, Mowgli, Shere Khan, Baloo, and Kaa.
The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic will be shown each night at the Discovery River throughout the summer.
