The Force was awake and breaking box office records last weekend.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens earned an all-time industry high of $248 million at the domestic box office and $281 million internationally for an all-time global record box office debut of $529 million.
Thanks to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney now holds four of the five top film debuts of all time.
The film earned the biggest Thursday preview gross with $57 million in ticket sales and the biggest Friday and single-day ever at $119.1 million. Star Wars: The Force Awakens also set a new Sunday record with $60.5 million.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens has also earned a 95 percent Rotten Tomatoes score.
The film’s success means The Walt Disney Studios is having its highest year on record, crossing the $5 billion mark at the global box office for the first time ever. This blows past the previous record of $4.73 billion set back in 2013.
