It’s been another busy week of news at the Walt Disney World Resort! Let’s dive right in to see what made headlines last week.
Perhaps the biggest news story all week was the seemingly-overnight installation of metal detectors at all four of the Disney World theme parks. Guests will be selected at random to go through the metal detectors.
Disney World has also announced it is discontinuing the sale of toy guns and the parks are implementing a ban on costumes for all guests over the age of 14.
In happier news the Jungle Navigation Co Ltd Skipper Canteen had a soft opening early in the week and officially opened on December 15. The 222-seat table service restaurant is located in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom and features dishes inspired by the tastes of Asia, South America, and Africa.
In more restaurant news, California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will start serving a Sunday Brunch in February. The ‘Brunch at the Top’ will be the first time a daytime meal has been offered at California Grill.
D23 has announced that gold members will be able to take a behind-the-scenes tour of Walt Disney’s recently refurbished office at The Walt Disney Studios. This tour will be the first D23 tour group to visit Walt’s newly restored office. The event also includes a special presentation by the Disney Photo Library team and a three-course meal at the Tam O’Shanter.
And don’t forget to tune in to ABC on Christmas morning for the Disney Parks Unforgettable Christmas Celebration featuring the 32nd annual Disney Parks Christmas Parade!
