Disney Channel’s hit film Descendants is getting a sequel.
A sequel script is in the works from the original film’s screenwriters and the working title is Descendants 2. The announcement was made by Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide.
“By almost every measure – domestically and globally – Descendants has already become one of the biggest entertainment properties of the year, and we’re eager to delve deeper into the unfolding mythology of Auradon and Isle of the Lost,” Marsh said.
Over the weekend the stars of Descendants including Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, and Sofia Carson joined director Kenny Ortega at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District for a live performance.
Descendants broke viewing records when it debuted on July 31 and has been seen by more than 32 million people worldwide.
A sequel to the book The Isle of the Lost: A Descendants Novel will be published in May 2016.
There is no release date yet for Disney Channels Descendants 2.
