ABC Family’s new series, Shadowhunters, is scheduled to premiere on January 12, 2016. A sneak preview of the series, Beyond the Shadows: The Making of Shadowhunters, premieres December 6.
This new “saga series” is based on The Mortal Instruments series of books by Cassandra Clare and follows 18-year-old Clary Fray who discovers that she is a Shadowhunter, a human-angel hybrid who fights demons.
After her mother is kidnapped Clary is thrown into the world of Shadowhunters and comes face to face with fairies, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves.
The series stars Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland, Alberto Rosende as Simon, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway, and Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus Bane.
Shadowhunters premieres January 12 at 9-10 p.m.
ABC Family will be known as Freeform beginning in 2016.
