The world’s first-ever global unboxing event happens Thursday, September 3 and will feature talent from Maker Studios giving fans a first look at toys inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The unboxing event will happen over 18 hours in 15 cities and 12 countries and kicks off in Sydney, Australia.
The event continues through Asia, Europe, Canada, North America, and South America. The new toy line will debut to “global fanfare” and leads up to retailers opening their doors at midnight on “Force Friday.”
“Star Wars toys have always played an important role in how our fans interact with the Saga,” says Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy in a press release. “They’ve inspired multiple generations to relive the experience of the movies and to create new adventures all their own. These spectacular Star Wars: The Force Awakens products will continue that tradition.”
Stars from Maker Studios will be unboxing new toys from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens product line and will be sharing the experiences live on YouTube (specifically on the Star Wars YouTube channel). The first unboxing happens on September 3 at 7:45 a.m. local time in Sydney, Australia – which is 5:45 p.m. ET on September 2 and the grand finale is at Lucasfilm at 8 a.m PT on Thursday, September 3.
Each of the 15 unboxing locations will reveal one new product from the toy line. The full schedule of the unboxing events can be found at www.StarWars.com.
The global unboxing event ends at midnight local time when retailers around the world will open their doors for fans to purchase the new toys from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens line. This will be known as “Force Friday.”
