The Disability Access Service Card at the Walt Disney World Resort has gone digital.
As of April 30 the service is completely digital and rather than writing down return times for attractions, the cast members will now scan guests’ tickets or MagicBands.
This all-digital update will allow the Disability Access Service Card to be integrated with the My Disney Experience app and website that guests use to plan their Disney World vacations.
Guests using the Disability Access Service Card will still need to visit the attractions they want to ride and obtain a return time. This part of the process has not changed.
Disneyland has been using a digital Disability Access Service Card since November 2014.
This digital update is the second change to the disability accommodations at Disney – the first change came in 2013 when the company did away with the Guest Assistance Card that would allow guests with special needs to skip to the front of the lines at rides and attractions.
The current Disability Access Service Card has its detractors and there is currently a lawsuit pending before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida claiming the systems violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.
