An all-new animated series, Goldie & Bear, is slated to air this fall on Disney Junior.
The fairytale-inspired show follows the adventures of friends Goldie and Bear after the “porridge incident” from Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
“Disney Junior embraces strong storytelling and memorable characters, and nothing reflects that more than classic fairytales,” said Nancy Kanter, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Generaal Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide. “We are excited to continue the story of ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’ from a new perspective and hope to inspire kids to create their own ‘happily-ever-afters’ by giving them new stories featuring classic characters they already know and love.”
Goldie and Bear is set in the Fairytale Forest and the friends will encounter characters from fairytales and nursery rhymes including Humpty Dumpty, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Three Pigs.
The show is focused on the importance of storytelling and episodes will reference original fairytales and nursery rhymes while “providing new insight into their narratives and underlying messages.” The series has a consultant who will be advising creators on storytelling, fairytales, and folklore.
The series stars Natalie Lander (The Middle) as Goldie, Georgie Kidder (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) as Bear, Lesley Nicol (Downton Abbey) as Fairy Godmother, and Debby Ryan (Jessie) as Thumbelina.
