The newest full-length film from Disneynature premieres in theaters on April 17, 2015.
Monkey Kingdom tells the story of Maya, a blonde-bobbed monkey, her son Kip, and their extended monkey family in the jungles of South Asia.
The film follows Maya and her family as they are forced to relocate and find a new home when their home at Castle Rock is overrun by another group of neighboring monkeys. Maya and her family must work together to reclaim their home at Castle Rock.
Monkey Kingdom is the sixth release from Disneynature, which is the first new Disney-branded film label in more than 60 years. Disneynature was launched in 2008 to capture wildlife stories.
The film is co-directed by Alastair Forthergill (Chimpanzee, Bears).
Monkey Kingdom opens on April 17, 2015 and for every ticket sold during opening week – April 17-23 – Disneynature will make a donation to Conservation International to help protect monkeys and other endangered species in their natural habitats.
