As construction continues at the Shanghai Disney Resort, there is news of two themed hotels for the resort in addition to an area called Disneytown.
The resort’s signature hotel is the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, which is an Art-Nouveau-inspired hotel. The second hotel is the Toy Story Hotel, which is inspired by the Disney/Pixar Toy Story films.
Disneytown is a dining and shopping area that will feature entertainment at the Walt Disney Grand Theater in addition to dining and shops. The Walt Disney Grand Theater will be the home of the Mandarin version of The Lion King.
“We are excited to provide guests with a glimpse of the unique hotels and the vibrant retail, dining and entertainment district we are creating as a part of the new Shanghai Disney Resort,” said Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “These elements, like the entire park and resort area, are designed to deliver the quality, guest service and great storytelling of Disney, and created specifically with our Chinese guests in mind.”
Inside Disneytown the Marketplace area will be home to musicians, entertainers, and specialty shops selling Disney merchandise. Spice Alley will be located next to the Marketplace and it will be home to restaurants serving Asian cuisine at al fresco dining spots.
The Shaghai Disney Resort will also feature a central lake area with a walking path and gardens.
