In case there was still any lingering doubt about Frozen being a global phenomenon, Disney Consumer Products has announced that more than 3 million Frozen role-play dresses have been sold in the past year.
Anna and Elsa costumes are the top-selling costumes at all Disney Store locations in North America. The National Retail Federation’s 2014 Halloween costume survey showed that an estimated 2.6 million kids were planning to dress as Anna or Elsa on Halloween.
“The powerful connection families around the world have with Frozen and its characters is truly a phenomenon that has only continued to grow over the last 12 months,” said Paul Gainer, executive vice president, Disney Retail, Disney Consumer Products. “This holiday season Disney Consumer Products has expanded product categories and doubled our presence at retail to meet the strong demand for everything Frozen. The big freeze looks set to continue.”
Frozen-themed toys are listed as one of the hottest properties for the upcoming holiday season and the toys have landed on every major holiday toy list from national retailers. The Disney Frozen Snow Glow Elsa doll from Jakks Pacific is listed on TTPM’s Most Wanted List, Kmart’s Fab 14, Toy Insider Hot 20, Toys ‘R’ Us Fab 15 Hot Toy List, Walmart’s Kid Approved 2014 Holiday Toy List, and Parents magazine Top Toys of 2014.
Disney Consumer Products is releasing 16 new Frozen-themed food and health products between now and the spring of 2015 including fresh apples and grapes, juice, yogurt, bandages, and an oral care line.
New products will also be released for Frozen Fever, the new animated short from Walt Disney Animation Studios that debuts next spring.
