This week’s Disney news had a lot of bling and new merchandise items, including a peek at the all-new Memento Mori store at the Magic Kingdom.
New Disney Merchandise
Fans of the Haunted Mansion have been queuing up all week at the new Memento Mori at the Magic Kingdom. This store is home to the new exclusive Haunted Mansion merchandise including home decor items, novelty items, collector’s pin.
Over at Epcot a new line of merchandise featuring the retro EPCOT Center logos has debuted. This new merchandise line includes T-shirt, baseball hats, a D-Tech on Demand iPhone 5/5S case, and more. The designs were inspired by the retro looks featured during Epcot’s 30th anniversary back in 2012.

Last week runDisney gave us a sneak peek of the medal for the inaugural Castaway Cay Challenge and this week we had a chance to check out the finisher medals for the 2015 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. Next year marks the 10th anniversary of Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge and the medal for that event features a spinning Goofy in the middle of the medal.
Disney Food News
Our friends at the Disney Food Blog offered up a delicious review of the Hops and Barley Marketplace and the Farm Fresh Marketplace at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival! We’re drooling over the Pepper Bacon Hash and the Carrot Cake Cake!
This week Disney also announced a ‘Stay, Play, and Dine’ offer for select dates between December 2014 and March 2015! This package includes room, tickets, and a Disney Dining Plan at a savings of up to $600.
There was also some intriguing news over at Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom – it was being reported that only guests with a FastPass+ for the quick service lunch were able to dine at BOG this week. No one is sure what this means for the long-term but some guests were reporting that walkups were still allowed. Stay tuned!
Other Disney News
Speaking of FastPass+ intrigue, over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this week there was a “FastPass+ only” test happening in Pixar Place for a very popular attraction. You had to possess a FastPass+ in order to ride Toy Story Midway Mania – no FastPass+ meant no chance to ride the attraction. The “test” ended on October 9 so we’re waiting to hear what happens next. Do you think FastPass+ only is the wave of the future for some attractions?
Early in the week it was announced that Bob Iger was going to remain chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company through 2018, which was two years longer than he planned to stay originally. And, in an effort to save Disneyland Paris, Disney announced a $1.25 billion bailout for the struggling European theme park!
As we head into the middle of the month the Food and Wine Festival is in full swing and Halloween is being celebrated around Walt Disney World.
